Liverpool were forced to settle for another draw after Nottingham Forest twice took the lead in a dramatic 2-2 Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday.
Forest stunned the home crowd in the 24th minute when Dan Ndoye finished a swift counter-attack to give the visitors a deserved advantage. Liverpool struggled to find their rhythm in the opening half, with Forest creating several dangerous opportunities.
The Reds eventually responded after the break. Alexander Isak levelled the contest in the 60th minute, tapping home Cody Gakpo’s low cross to give Liverpool renewed hope.
However, Forest regained the lead ten minutes later when Morgan Gibbs-White converted from the penalty spot after Alisson brought down Neco Williams.
Just when Liverpool appeared destined for another disappointing defeat, new signing Víctor Muñoz produced the moment of the afternoon. The winger fired home a powerful effort in the 82nd minute to restore parity and rescue a point for the hosts.
The result means Liverpool have now drawn their opening two league matches under new manager Andoni Iraola, leaving serious questions over their defensive organisation and consistency.
While Muñoz’s late heroics will provide relief, Liverpool will know that another slow start could prove costly as the season progresses.
