RANGERS COULD LOSE A KEY STAR FOR CELTIC REMATCH
Rangers could be without Ryan Naderi for Sunday’s Old Firm rematch after the striker suffered an ankle injury during the club’s 3-0 victory over Celtic.
Manager Derek McInnes has revealed that Rangers contacted the Scottish Football Association over Celtic midfielder Mika Baur’s challenge on Naderi.
The striker’s ankle was reportedly left in a serious condition, with McInnes describing it as “a mess.”
The Rangers manager was particularly frustrated that VAR did not recommend an on-field review.
Naderi is now considered a doubt for Sunday’s league meeting at Celtic Park.
His potential absence would be significant.
Rangers are already without Lawrence Shankland and Youssef Chermiti, leaving Kevin Kelsy and Bojan Miovski as the club’s other recognised striking options.
Naderi has emerged as an important attacking player under McInnes and played a key role in the previous Old Firm victory.
Rangers therefore face a major selection problem just days before returning to Celtic Park.
McInnes insists he does not want the referee controversy to distract his team, but the situation has inevitably become one of the biggest talking points surrounding the match.
Celtic will be desperate for revenge after their 3-0 humiliation at Ibrox.
Rangers, meanwhile, want to prove that result was not a one-off.
But first, they need to discover whether their striker can recover quickly enough to play.
