Collegiate Career:

  • Oregon Ducks (2018–2020): Shough began his college career at the University of Oregon, initially serving as a backup to Justin Herbert. In the 2020 season, he stepped into the starting role, leading the Ducks to a Pac-12 Championship and an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl.

  • Texas Tech Red Raiders (2021–2023): Seeking more playing time, Shough transferred to Texas Tech University. Despite facing injuries, including a broken collarbone in 2021 and a fractured fibula in 2023, he demonstrated determination. Notably, he earned MVP honors at the 2022 Texas Bowl after a standout performance.

  • Louisville Cardinals (2024): In his final collegiate season, Shough transferred to the University of Louisville. He led the Cardinals to an 8-4 regular-season record, highlighted by a 342-yard, four-touchdown game against Miami and an upset victory over Clemson. Shough concluded the season with 3,195 passing yards and 23 touchdowns, ranking 14th in FBS for total yards.
