Kim Caldwell Honored with Inaugural “Trailblazer Award” by Lady Vols Legends
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – In a momentous celebration of leadership and impact, Tennessee Lady Volunteers head coach Kim Caldwell received the inaugural “Trailblazer Award” in a special ceremony. The honor was presented by three of the most iconic figures in Lady Vols history—Candace Parker, Chamique Holdsclaw, and Tamika Catchings—recognizing Caldwell’s dedication to the program and her influence on women’s basketball.
Caldwell, who took the helm of the Lady Vols program with a vision of excellence and growth, has quickly made her mark, guiding the team with passion and innovation. The “Trailblazer Award” is a testament to her ability to inspire and push boundaries within the sport.

“This award represents breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations, and there’s no better recipient than Kim Caldwell,” said Parker. “She embodies the spirit of the Lady Vols—determination, leadership, and a relentless pursuit of greatness.”
Holdsclaw echoed those sentiments, praising Caldwell’s ability to elevate the program. “The legacy of Tennessee basketball is built on those who dare to be different, those who strive to make an impact. Kim is doing just that.”
The event, held at Thompson-Boling Arena, was filled with players, alumni, and fans celebrating Caldwell’s contributions. Catchings emphasized that the award not only recognizes success on the court but also leadership beyond the game.
“Kim isn’t just coaching a team—she’s inspiring young women to chase their dreams, just as Coach Summitt did for us,” Catchings said. “She is a true trailblazer.”

Caldwell expressed gratitude for the honor, acknowledging the rich history of the Lady Vols program and the support of her mentors, players, and staff. “It’s humbling to receive this award from three women who have set the standard for greatness,” she said. “This program is built on excellence, and I’m committed to continuing that legacy.”
As Caldwell continues to lead the Lady Vols, the “Trailblazer Award” serves as a reminder of the past, present, and future of Tennessee basketball—one that thrives on breaking barriers and setting new standards of success.
