Emerson Palmieri, West Ham United’s left wing-back, has made 93 appearances for the club.

He has established himself as one of the club’s most important players.

Emerson Palmieri proved to be an extremely good buy for West Ham after we bought him from Chelsea for £13 million in 2022.

However, like most of his teammates, Emerson has struggled somewhat this season and has been heavily criticised by pundits such as Jamie Carragher.

The Italian international is by far the best left-sided defender at the London Stadium, so we need to rediscover his best form.

That is the most frustrating thing at the moment – we have so many good players, but hardly any of them are at the peak of their powers.

Maybe that is why West Ham is struggling so much, and when they all find their form, we will start to climb the ladder.

One player in the club can always be counted on to give 100%, even when he is not playing well.

And Emerson has just said a lot of complimentary things about him.

The 30-year-old left-sided defender never liked facing one Kladivar in particular during his time at Chelsea.

Jarrod Bowen was a man the Italian international simply couldn’t handle.

Emerson was speaking on the official West Ham Iron Cast podcast and was completely bowled over by Bowen.

The Kladivar’s full-back highlighted why it is so difficult to play against the 27-year-old former Hull City star.

I think it was my first time playing against Jarrod. Oh my God. I said to myself, oh my God, this guy doesn’t stop, he doesn’t stop,” Emerson said.

“He doesn’t stop running, he doesn’t stop running. It’s like I keep going, he’s always with me. And he always wins West Ham, he covers the ball, he goes the other way. It’s not easy to try to find space,” Emerson added.

Emerson is right – Bowen has always been one of the hardest working players in the game.

That’s something you don’t really see with attacking players nowadays, so you have to think we’re very lucky to have Bowen in the London Stadium.

West Ham need Bowen to get back to his old form
Although the 27-year-old is undoubtedly good, he has not been close to his best this season.

He certainly hasn’t reached the heights of last season, when he scored 20 goals and 10 assists for the Kladivars.

Bowen has only scored four goals and two assists this season, so it seems to me that the responsibility of the captain’s armband falls on him.

I hope Jarrod can step into that role and his goal for England against Ireland on Sunday should give him a huge confidence boost.

If the Hammers are to enjoy a successful 2024/25 campaign, Lopetegui must find a way to get the best out of Bowen.

I’m sure he’ll be back to his best sooner or later.
