Heartbreaking News: Massive Floodwaters Destroy Property Across Malaysia Due to Heavy Rainfall and Severe Weather Conditions.

In late November 2024, Malaysia faced severe flooding due to relentless heavy rains, leading to significant displacement and property damage across multiple states. The northeastern state of Kelantan was particularly affected, accounting for approximately 63% of the over 122,000 individuals forced to evacuate their homes.

The floods resulted in at least three fatalities and caused extensive damage to infrastructure and personal property. In Ipoh, Perak state, businessman Datuk Amaluddin Mohamed Ismail reported that five of his luxury vehicles—a Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, and Toyota Alphard—were irreparably damaged as floodwaters rapidly inundated his residence.

The agricultural sector also suffered considerable losses. In Kedah, around 12,600 hectares of paddy fields were submerged, affecting approximately 6,000 farmers. Similarly, in Kelantan, over 26,000 hectares of paddy fields were damaged, with many recently planted crops destroyed.

The Malaysian government responded by deploying thousands of emergency personnel to assist with evacuations and establish relief centers for those displaced. Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid
