In the ongoing competition for Alabama’s starting Husky position, defensive coordinator Kane Wommack has identified DaShawn Jones as the leading candidate.

Jones, a rising talent in the Crimson Tide’s secondary, has shown promise during spring practices.

The Husky role, a hybrid defensive back position, became vacant after DeVonta Smith transferred to Notre Dame this offseason. Jones is now poised to step into this critical spot.

Wommack emphasized that the competition remains open, with several players in the secondary contending for the position. He noted that the coaching staff is closely monitoring these athletes throughout the spring practices to identify the best fit for the Husky role.

As Alabama continues its preparations for the upcoming season, the development of the Husky position will be a focal point, with Jones currently leading the charge.
