Leeds United could make a big statement on promotion if they manage to seal a deal for Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill.

The Whites are one of a number of clubs linked with a Brownhill transfer, although they may find it difficult to seal a deal after it was reported that he may decide not to join another Championship club (TBR Football).

Burnley are said to be finding it difficult to agree new terms with the midfielder, and the prospect of him becoming a Leeds player would be a big statement from the club.

Although the report states that a move to the Championship is unlikely, the Whites need to make the necessary checks to conclude a deal, and if they did, it would slightly increase their chances of promotion.

Brownhill is a player who knows the Championship as well as anyone, amassing over 200 appearances in League Two and earning promotion in the 22/23 season with the Clarets.

Of course, he has also shown his ability at Premier League level and his experience and long list of attributes will be a big help to any team he finds himself in.

The Whites have several central midfielders of the required standard, but few, if any, have similar qualities to the 28-year-old, who usually operates as a full-back.

In addition, his ability to add goals from midfield is a huge asset and is something that Daniel Farke’s side have not been able to consistently show.

Burnley may sell the centre-back in January to avoid losing him for free, but Leeds simply have to ask themselves the question.
