Shocking news : Head Coach Padres Sign Manager Mike Shildt to Contract Extension Through 2027. See more details..

San Diego Padres have extended manager Mike Shildt’s contract through the 2027 MLB season, following a successful 2024 campaign. Shildt, who initially signed a two-year deal in November 2023, led the Padres to a 93-69 record and a postseason appearance in his first year at the helm.

Under Shildt’s leadership, the Padres achieved the second-most wins in franchise history, finishing just behind the 1998 team’s 98 victories. The team swept the Atlanta Braves in the Wild Card Series before falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a five-game National League Division Series.

General Manager A.J. Preller praised Shildt’s commitment and the team’s performance, stating, “He possesses a true love for this team and the game of baseball, and I am thrilled to continue to work together with Mike to bring a championship to the city of San Diego.”

Shildt’s managerial career includes a tenure with the St. Louis Cardinals from 2018 to 2021, during which he led the team to three consecutive postseason appearances and earned the National League Manager of the Year award in 2019.

The extension reflects the Padres’ confidence in Shildt’s leadership as they aim to build upon their recent success and pursue a World Series title in the coming seasons.
