The Leeds midfielder who was unavailable for the defeat in his country side against Jamaica was on a full time bench all through for their two victory out of two against the Jamaican’s.

Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson, who missed last week’s 1-0 defeat to Jamaica due to illness, also played for the United States on Monday night.

Aaronson missed last week’s match against Steve McClaren’s “Reggae Boyz” after reporting “flu-like symptoms”, according to the official website of the United States men’s national team. However, the 24-year-old was able to take part in the return match in St. Louis when he was on the bench as the USMNT made it two wins out of two against Jamaica.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men won 4-2 and Aaronson played the last 20 minutes.

That means Leeds’ 10th man should be available for selection this weekend when United travel to Swansea City in the Championship.

Leeds’ squad is one of the thinnest in League Two this season, with just 21 outfield players, although Josuha Guilavogui joined on a free transfer last month.

Nevertheless, the Whites have so far coped relatively well with injuries and absences, such as the double loss of Ethan Ampadu and Ilija Gruev that the team experienced at the beginning of October. In addition, Junior Firpo and Jayden Bogle have served a one-month suspension for five yellow cards, while the former has to serve two more games of a three-match suspension handed down retrospectively for violent conduct in the 1-0 defeat against Millwall.

Aaronson’s expected availability for the weekend trip to South Wales will come as a welcome boost for Farke, who has praised the American’s resilience in recent weeks. Aaronson has four goals and one assist this season and is second only to Joel Pirro in goals.
