No. 5 Alabama Dominates No. 15 Kentucky as SEC’s Top Four Seeds Advance to Tournament Semifinals

Nashville, TN – In a commanding performance, the fifth-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide secured a 99-70 victory over the No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats during the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Tournament quarterfinals on Friday night at Bridgestone Arena. This win propels Alabama into the semifinals, where they will join the tournament’s top four seeds, all of whom have advanced.

Alabama’s offense was led by standout freshman guard Labaron Philon, who contributed 21 points. The Crimson Tide maintained control throughout the game, showcasing their offensive prowess and depth.

Kentucky faced challenges due to the absence of senior guard Lamont Butler, sidelined with a shoulder injury. Despite a strong effort from Andrew Carr, who led the Wildcats with 18 points, and Amari Williams adding 16 points, Kentucky struggled to keep pace with Alabama’s relentless offense.

This victory marks Alabama’s first three-game winning streak over Kentucky and represents the largest margin of victory for the Crimson Tide against the Wildcats.

With this win, Alabama advances to the SEC Tournament semifinals, joining fellow top seeds Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee, all of whom secured their spots with quarterfinal victories. The semifinals are set to feature intense matchups as these top teams vie for the championship title.

Kentucky will now turn its attention to the NCAA Tournament, aiming to regroup and make a deep run despite recent setbacks.
