Word Has It That Everton New Owners Consider David Moyes as Potential Replacement for Sean Dyche

David Moyes Linked with Everton Return as Sean Dyche Faces Uncertain Future

David Moyes is being touted for a dramatic return to Everton, as speculation mounts over Sean Dyche’s future at the club. According to The Sun, Everton’s prospective new owners see Moyes as a potential short-term solution should they decide to part ways with Dyche. The former Manchester United and West Ham boss is reportedly in contention to take over at Goodison Park.

Everton’s struggles on and off the pitch have been well-documented in recent years. The club is still grappling with ownership issues, with the Friedkin Group keen to complete a takeover from current majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri. However, financial complications linked to previous owners and lenders have delayed the process.

The Toffees’ precarious position in the Premier League table has heightened concerns. Following 12 matches, Everton sit 15th, just two points above the relegation zone. With the new stadium nearing completion, the incoming ownership is desperate to preserve the club’s top-flight status. There are growing doubts over Dyche’s ability to secure safety, given the squad’s limitations and ongoing struggles.

As a result, the Friedkin Group is reportedly exploring managerial options. For the long term, names such as Sergio Conceição and even Jose Mourinho have been floated. However, the immediate focus appears to be on a short-term appointment, with Moyes, 61, emerging as a leading candidate. Moyes, who managed Everton from 2002 to 2013, is out of work following his departure from West Ham in May and is said to be open to a return.

Moyes’ previous tenure at Goodison Park is fondly remembered for bringing stability and relative success to the Merseyside club. His familiarity with the club and the Premier League is seen as a valuable asset in the battle against relegation.

Moyes is not without other options, though. Leicester City, who recently parted ways with Steve Cooper, are also reportedly interested in the 61-year-old. The Foxes’ interest could complicate Everton’s plans, especially if Leicester moves quickly to secure his services.

For now, Moyes remains a potential short-term fix for Everton, with the Friedkin Group keen to explore their options once Dyche’s position is decided. Any appointment would be geared towards stabilising the club and ensuring survival in a season that remains fraught with challenges.
