Rangers Hit Million

Rangers have been recognised among Europe’s best-supported football clubs after passing the one-million attendance mark across competitions last season.

A UEFA attendance report reportedly placed Rangers among only 36 clubs in Europe to attract more than one million supporters through the turnstiles across all competitions.

The figure underlines the huge support behind the Ibrox club.

Rangers are joined by Celtic among the strongly supported Scottish clubs featured in UEFA’s attendance figures.

The milestone is particularly notable because Scotland has a much smaller population than the major football countries dominating European attendance lists.

Rangers’ total was built across an entire season rather than through one major event.

League matches, cup fixtures and European games all contributed to the figure.

That creates an important financial advantage through matchday revenue, although the club still operates in a football market where broadcast income is significantly smaller than the biggest leagues.

The numbers also show why Rangers remain one of Scotland’s biggest sporting institutions.

Strong attendance does not automatically guarantee trophies.

However, it gives the club a powerful foundation.

With Rangers Women now making headlines after their 5-2 victory over Celtic and the men’s team competing under Derek McInnes, the Ibrox atmosphere is once again becoming a major talking point.

The fans have certainly made their numbers count.
