Manchester City: Chairman Fights Back
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has broken his silence after reports that the club was found guilty of 114 of the 115 Premier League financial charges.
In a message to supporters, Al Mubarak insisted that the legal battle is far from finished and said the club remains confident in its position.
The reported verdict has created huge debate across English football. However, Manchester City have not been punished yet.
The independent commission is still expected to determine the appropriate sanctions, while City are expected to appeal the verdict. Possible punishments reported include fines, points deductions and other sporting sanctions, but none has been officially imposed.
That distinction is important.
City have repeatedly denied the allegations and have maintained that they have complied with the rules. Their latest statement also stressed that the confidential process remains ongoing.
