BRUNO FERNANDES JOINS HAALAND & ISAK AT THE TOP
Bruno Fernandes Joins Haaland and Isak in Early Golden Boot Battle as Man United Prepare for Huge Week
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has quietly put himself into the early Premier League Golden Boot conversation after making a spectacular start to the new campaign.
The Portuguese midfielder currently has three league goals, placing him level with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Liverpool striker Alexander Isak at the top of the scoring chart.
What makes Fernandes’ start particularly interesting is that he is competing against two recognised centre-forwards while operating primarily as a midfielder.
His goals have also become increasingly important for United. Fernandes produced a hat-trick in the dramatic 5-2 comeback victory over Ipswich Town, demonstrating once again how heavily Michael Carrick’s side can depend on his attacking contribution.
However, United’s positive moments have been mixed with frustrating results. They lost to newly promoted Hull City and were held 2-2 by Everton, leaving the club with more questions than answers before a massive run of fixtures.
With Champions League football returning to Old Trafford against Sabah, followed by the Manchester derby against City, Fernandes could be central to United’s response.
If the captain continues scoring at this rate, the Golden Boot race could become a very unexpected three-way battle.
