Chelsea Receive New Lamine Camara Twist as Former Blue Gives Blunt Advice
Chelsea’s failed pursuit of Lamine Camara has taken another interesting turn after former Blues midfielder Denis Zakaria publicly discussed the Senegal international’s future.
Camara was expected to join Chelsea on deadline day in a deal worth around £47 million, but Monaco ultimately pulled the plug on the transfer.
The midfielder has since stayed in France and has started the season strongly.
Now Zakaria, who plays alongside Camara at Monaco, has offered his teammate some rather interesting advice.
The former Chelsea midfielder told Camara that staying at Monaco could actually be better for him.
Zakaria also praised the 22-year-old’s professionalism and performance after Monaco’s 2-1 victory over Lens.
The timing is significant because Camara has quickly moved beyond the disappointment of the collapsed Chelsea move.
He has become an important part of Filipe Luís’ Monaco side and has helped the club make a strong start to the Ligue 1 campaign.
Chelsea, meanwhile, still have midfield questions following Enzo Fernández’s departure to Manchester City and Moisés Caicedo’s fitness problems.
There is also reported Premier League interest in Camara from Liverpool.
That means the Chelsea story may not be finished.
If Camara continues performing at his current level, Chelsea could face another transfer battle for a player they came extremely close to signing.
And this time, Monaco could demand considerably more.
