Eagles Face Bissau

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are preparing for a difficult 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday.

Nigeria opened the qualifying campaign with a 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar.

George Ilenikhena scored the equaliser before Moses Usor completed the comeback with another goal on his senior debut.

However, the Super Eagles now face a different challenge away from home.

Guinea-Bissau also won their opening match, beating Tanzania 2-0.

That means Tuesday’s meeting could have an immediate impact on the top of Group L.

Nigeria have already travelled to Bissau, with the NFF calling for total concentration ahead of the match.

There is also an injury concern.

Ilenikhena and Akor Adams did not train fully with the squad after the Madagascar match and are being monitored ahead of the fixture.

Nigeria will therefore need both tactical discipline and squad depth.

The opening victory provided three points, but the performance also exposed areas that need improvement.

Guinea-Bissau will be playing at home and will arrive with confidence after their own winning start.

For Eric Chelle and his players, this is another early test of the new Super Eagles project.

Three points would give Nigeria valuable momentum in the qualification race.
