Chelsea Women Seal Champions League Progress After Real Sociedad Victory

Chelsea Women have secured their place in the league phase of the UEFA Women’s Champions League after overcoming Real Sociedad in their qualifying tie.

Sonia Bompastor’s side completed the job with a 1-0 victory in Spain on Wednesday night, sealing a 6-2 aggregate win and confirming their place among Europe’s elite for another campaign. Keira Walsh provided the decisive moment in the second leg, finding the breakthrough after Chelsea had already built a commanding advantage from the first meeting.

Although the performance was not Chelsea’s most spectacular display, the result was exactly what mattered. Bompastor also used the occasion to rotate her squad and give valuable minutes to some younger players and new arrivals.

The Blues will now turn their attention to the league-phase draw, with their opponents set to be revealed on Friday.

For Chelsea, qualification represents another important step as they look to compete on multiple fronts this season. The European challenge will bring tougher opposition, but progressing through the qualifiers has given the team an early boost.

With domestic football also approaching, Chelsea can now focus on building momentum while preparing for another demanding Champions League campaign.
