Manchester United are reportedly preparing a two-man support plan for Amad Diallo on the right wing after missing out on a move for Barcelona winger Bradley Barcola.
The Red Devils appear to have shifted their attention toward experience and mentorship as they look to strengthen their options on the right side of the attack.
According to reports, Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has identified a two-man panel consisting of experienced stars David Alaba and Riyad Mahrez, with the pair potentially playing important roles around Amad Diallo.
🇦🇹 David Alaba Considered for a Loan Move
One of the names reportedly being considered is Austrian defender David Alaba.
The experienced Real Madrid star would bring a wealth of experience at the highest level, having enjoyed a hugely successful career in European football. Although primarily a defender, Alaba’s leadership, tactical intelligence and experience could provide valuable support within Manchester United’s squad.
A potential loan arrangement would also give United flexibility while allowing the club to add an experienced figure without committing to a long-term deal.
For a young player like Amad, having senior professionals around him could be particularly important as he continues to establish himself as a key part of the Manchester United attack.
🇩🇿 Riyad Mahrez Could Provide Attacking Experience
The second name on the reported list is former Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez.
The Algerian superstar is renowned for his left-footed ability, close control, creativity and experience playing from the right wing. His profile would make him an interesting addition to a squad looking to provide Amad with competition and guidance in the position.
Mahrez has spent years performing at the highest level, including winning major domestic and European honours during his time in England.
His arrival could therefore offer Manchester United something different: not only competition for places but also a player capable of helping younger attackers develop their decision-making and understanding of the game.
🔴 Amad Diallo Remains Central to the Plan
Despite United’s reported interest in adding experience, the plan appears to keep Amad Diallo at the centre of their long-term thinking.
The Ivorian winger has shown flashes of his quality and has increasingly been viewed as a player capable of making an impact on the right side of United’s attack.
Rather than immediately replacing Amad with another expensive young winger, the club could instead look to surround him with experienced players who can help him develop while maintaining competition for his position.
That approach could prove particularly useful if United are unable to land their preferred attacking targets.
What Happens Next?
Manchester United’s reported interest in Alaba and Mahrez comes after the club allegedly missed out on Bradley Barcola, forcing the hierarchy to consider alternative options.
Whether either veteran eventually arrives at Old Trafford remains to be seen, and the claims surrounding the reported two-man panel should be treated cautiously until there is confirmation from reliable sources.
For now, however, the message is clear: Manchester United appear determined to strengthen the right wing while continuing to develop Amad Diallo.
If the club can combine Amad’s youthful potential with the experience of established stars, it could create an intriguing balance between the present and the future.
