Manchester City have made another emphatic statement at the start of the new Premier League campaign, cruising to a 4–1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The night belonged to Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki, with both players scoring twice as City produced an attacking performance that will have caught the attention of their rivals.

Haaland opened the scoring with a powerful header before Cherki produced a moment of individual brilliance to double City’s advantage. Palace briefly found a way back into the contest, but Cherki responded almost immediately with his second goal.

Haaland then completed his brace late in the game, putting the result beyond doubt.

For City, the victory means they have started the Premier League season with two consecutive wins. More importantly, the performance suggested that the team is already developing a dangerous attacking rhythm under Enzo Maresca.

Cherki was particularly impressive, showing creativity, confidence and the ability to create something from nothing. Haaland, meanwhile, reminded everyone why he remains one of football’s most feared finishers.

Manchester City now have six points from their opening two matches, and their early form will undoubtedly increase expectations.

If this is only the beginning, Premier League defenders could have a serious problem on their hands.
