Arsenal could reportedly make a move for Como attacking midfielder Nico Paz in 2027, with the Gunners understood to have expressed an interest in the highly rated Argentine playmaker.

Paz has emerged as one of the most exciting young attacking midfielders in European football, attracting attention from several major clubs. Arsenal are now believed to be monitoring his situation ahead of a potential move next summer.

The 22-year-old is currently playing for Como after completing a permanent move to the Italian club. His performances have continued to attract interest, with Tottenham Hotspur also showing significant intent during the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Already Tested Como’s Resolve

Tottenham reportedly made two bids for Paz during the summer, but both offers were rejected by Como.

The failed attempts underline the level of competition Arsenal could face if they decide to make a formal approach in 2027. Como clearly value Paz highly and appear reluctant to part ways with a player who has become an important figure in their project.

For Arsenal, the situation could become even more complicated because of Real Madrid’s existing contractual rights over the Argentine.

Real Madrid Hold €80m Buy-Back Clause

Real Madrid retain an €80 million buy-back clause for Paz, giving the Spanish giants considerable control over his future.

The clause could prove decisive if Paz continues to develop at Como and attracts major offers from Premier League clubs. Should Madrid decide they want to bring the midfielder back to the Santiago Bernabéu, Arsenal could find themselves unable to complete a straightforward deal with Como.

Real Madrid’s interest is understandable. Paz developed through the club’s youth system and was given opportunities with the senior side before moving to Como. His progress in Italy means Madrid have retained an avenue to potentially bring him back.

That could make the 2027 transfer picture particularly interesting.

Why Arsenal Could Want Paz

Arsenal’s interest in Paz would fit the club’s strategy of adding technically gifted and versatile attacking players.

Paz can operate as an attacking midfielder and is capable of influencing games through his creativity, close control and ability to find space between the lines. His profile could provide Arsenal with another option in the final third and additional creativity in matches where opponents defend deep.

At 22, he would also fit the club’s preference for players who can develop and contribute over several seasons rather than being short-term solutions.

However, Arsenal would need to decide whether Paz is worth pursuing if the overall financial package approaches the €80m mark.

A Transfer Battle to Watch

With Tottenham already testing Como’s position and Arsenal now reportedly interested, Paz could become one of the names to watch ahead of the 2027 summer transfer window.

Much will depend on his performances throughout the season and, crucially, Real Madrid’s plans.

If Madrid decide against activating their buy-back clause, Arsenal could have an opportunity to negotiate directly with Como. But if the Spanish club sees Paz as part of its long-term plans, the €80m clause could effectively give Madrid the first major say in where the midfielder plays next.

For now, Arsenal’s interest should be viewed as one to monitor rather than evidence of an imminent transfer.

Paz’s development at Como, Tottenham’s continued interest and Real Madrid’s contractual rights could all play a significant role in determining his next destination.

One thing is clear: if Paz continues his rapid development, the battle for his signature in 2027 could be one of the more intriguing transfer stories of the summer.
