Chelsea’s 6-3 Comeback Exposes Huge Problem Despite Palmer and Rogers Heroics

Chelsea produced one of the wildest comebacks of the season, but their 6-3 victory over Leeds United exposed a problem that manager Xabi Alonso cannot ignore.

The Blues were two goals behind before producing an extraordinary second-half turnaround at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer was introduced from the bench and immediately changed the game, scoring twice as Chelsea ripped Leeds apart. Morgan Rogers was also instrumental, contributing several assists during the stunning comeback.

The victory extended Chelsea’s impressive attacking numbers under Alonso, but their defensive performance remains a major concern.

Chelsea have now scored 16 goals in five matches under their new manager while conceding 10, highlighting a team capable of devastating opponents but also vulnerable at the back.

Alonso admitted his initial selection did not work, with several changes made at half-time transforming the contest.

That raises an uncomfortable question: should Palmer and other senior stars really be starting on the bench in important matches?

Chelsea’s squad depth is one of their biggest strengths, but Wednesday’s comeback also suggested the gap between their strongest XI and fringe players may be bigger than expected.

The Blues won — emphatically — but Alonso still has plenty to fix.
