United Sign City Teenager
Manchester United have completed the signing of 17-year-old midfielder Karim Cassim from Manchester City.
Cassim joins United’s academy after being part of the Manchester City side that won the FA Youth Cup last season.
The teenager is also an England youth international, having represented the country up to Under-17 level.
His move across Manchester has now been formally completed after Premier League ratification.
Cassim played 13 times for Manchester City Under-18s last season and scored three goals.
He now begins another stage of his development at Old Trafford.
The midfielder’s decision to leave City makes the transfer particularly interesting.
Both Manchester clubs continue to invest heavily in young players, and academy recruitment has become an important part of their long-term planning.
United have therefore moved quickly to secure a player they believe can develop within their system.
Cassim is not expected to immediately become a first-team regular.
Instead, the teenager will initially continue his development through United’s academy structure.
However, his previous experience at City means he already understands the demands of elite youth football.
The move also adds another talented young midfielder to United’s development pathway.
Cassim will now look to settle into his new surroundings and compete for opportunities with United’s youth teams.
For Manchester United, the signing represents another investment in the future.
For Cassim, it is a chance to begin a new chapter only a short distance from his previous club.
