BREAKING:Newcastle United Could Offer Karim Benzema Route Back to…see more

Newcastle United could theoretically provide Karim Benzema with a route back to European football because of the club’s ownership links with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

However, despite the intriguing possibility, there are currently no talks, no offer and no indication that Newcastle are actively pursuing the 38-year-old striker.

Benzema is currently a free agent after his spell in Saudi Arabia, but his future remains closely connected to the country through a PIF-linked ambassadorial agreement that reportedly runs until 2030.

That agreement could prove significant if the former Real Madrid and France striker wants to return to European football.

Why Newcastle Could Be Different

Newcastle’s ownership structure makes the club an unusual potential destination for Benzema.

PIF became the majority owner of Newcastle United in 2021, and the Saudi sovereign wealth fund continues to hold a controlling stake in the Premier League club. That connection creates a theoretical pathway for Benzema that may not be available at other European clubs.

The key issue is understood to be Benzema’s wider relationship with Saudi Arabia rather than simply his status as a free agent.

A move to another European club could potentially create complications around his existing ambassadorial commitments. Newcastle, because of its PIF ownership, could theoretically be in a stronger position to explore a solution that allows the veteran forward to continue fulfilling his Saudi-linked obligations while playing in the Premier League.

That does not mean such a deal is being negotiated.

At present, there is no evidence that Newcastle have made Benzema a transfer target.

Benzema Still Has Plenty to Offer

Despite being 38, Benzema’s pedigree would make him an attractive short-term option for clubs looking for experience and proven goalscoring ability.

The Frenchman enjoyed an extraordinary career at Real Madrid, winning multiple Champions League titles and the Ballon d’Or in 2022. His ability to operate as both a goalscorer and a creative focal point could make him useful to a team competing domestically and in Europe.

For Newcastle, an experienced forward could also provide additional leadership in a squad with ambitions of competing at the highest level.

However, age and recruitment strategy would remain important considerations.

Newcastle have generally sought to build a squad capable of competing at the top of the Premier League while maintaining long-term value. A 38-year-old Benzema would therefore represent a very different type of signing from the younger players typically targeted for long-term development.

No Newcastle Move Yet

For now, Benzema to Newcastle remains a theoretical possibility rather than an active transfer story.

There have been no confirmed negotiations, no reported Newcastle offer and no clear indication that the club’s sporting leadership is attempting to bring him to St James’ Park.

The significance of the Newcastle connection comes almost entirely from the relationship between the club’s ownership and Saudi Arabia.

If Benzema decides that he wants to return to European football, his PIF-linked agreement could become an important factor in determining which clubs are realistically able to accommodate him.

Newcastle would therefore be an interesting name to monitor, particularly if the situation surrounding Benzema’s Saudi commitments changes.

For now, however, supporters should treat any claims of an imminent Newcastle move with caution.

Benzema to Newcastle is possible in theory — but there is currently no evidence that a transfer is actually being worked on.
